The Automatic Weather Stations' Project and the Antarctic Meteorological Research Center archive many forms of meteorological data available for use by the scientific community and the public, free of charge. Users of the data are asked only to acknowledge the AWS or AMRC project appropriately, for anything produced or published that uses the data. Much of the AWS's and AMRC's data is provided online - via ftp or web, but some data has yet to be added to the Web, so feel free to ask for other types of data not listed below. To request data from the AWS project or the AMRC, please contact us at the AWS and AMRC projects.

NCEP MRF Gridded Model analyses and forecasts

Since 2 July 1993, the AMRC has been archiving the National Centers for Environmental Prediction's (formerly the National Meteorological Center) Medium Range Forecast Model analyses. Since 14 April 1994, the forecasts have also been archived. This collection can be very useful, as it is a smoothed data set over the data sparse Antarctic region. We have a sample model available for viewing.(17 Kb)

NCEP Wind and Wave Forecast Model

The AMRC has been archiving NCEP's Wind and Wave Forecast Model since 4 December 1998. This collection can be very useful, as it is a smoothed data set over the data sparse Antarctic region, with a focus on ocean wave and surface wind information.
